FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Have a question? Below you will find the answers to the questions we get asked most!

How long will it take for my swimmer to learn how to swim?

Each swimmer's  progress is unique and based upon factors such as comfort in the water, physical strength, coordination, focus and maturity. At Oconee Swim Academy we believe a well-balanced swimmer learns skills in layers. Our goal is to progress each swimmer as quickly as possible, while maintaining safe foundations.

What do we bring to lessons?

For any swimmers under the age of 3, we do require them to be double-diapered. This means they will wear a disposable swim diaper under a reusable swim diaper with elastic on all sides. All swimmers will need a suit, towel and goggles (these may or may not be used during your lesson- for some swimmers they can help encourage them to go underwater initially so that they relax and allow themselves to submerge without goggles)

What age should I enroll my child in swim lessons?

Our WaterBaby & Me classes begin as soon as swimmers can sit up unassisted, usually between 5 & 7 months but if your child is older than that, it’s always a good time to start! Our curriculum is designed to teach children of all ages and abilities how to become water safe!

How much is the annual registration fee?

Our Annual Registration Fee is $25/swimmer or $40/family.

What is the make-up policy?

We understand things come up and kids can get sick so we offer one complimentary make-up lesson with each package of 8 private or semi-private lessons purchased. Any lesson canceled is eligible to use their makeup so long as an email was sent to info@oconeeswimacademy.com. When initially scheduling your lessons, please let us know of any planned vacations/activities upfront so those vacations can be built into your schedule! Additional make-up lessons can be scheduled for a $10 fee that is sent directly to our instructors to respect their time! All group classes have a no make-up policy as we can’t cancel class for one student missing a lesson.

Do you offer refunds?

Any cancellations within 48 hours of payment can receive a full refund for any unused lessons. Other than that please realize when you enroll your student in classes you are reserving a slot for your child that is in high demand. By reserving this spot you are agreeing to pay for your reserved spot independent of your child's attendance. Oconee Swim Academy will offer no refunds or credits for classes missed.

What training do instructors receive?

All OSA Swim Instructors are CPR/First Aid certified and have completed 40+ hours of in-water training. Instructors continue to be evaluated regularly and participate in monthly training sessions to ensure that your child is in the absolute safest environment.
